the snow ball tree

this is the tree from which i hang my feeders.  she has been blooming for about a week now. she has been lovingly pruned into a tree over the years rather than left as a shrub.

alien invasion

wtf could these crazy orange things growing off the pine next to the hay barn. they are kindof slimy squishey. and the tree is covered with them from top to bottom like i decorated it for christmas. my friend, the google, informed me its cedar apple rust. they say you need to spray your apple trees at the start of the wet spring and every 10 days until the end of may. right. i can barely find time to mow let alone spray chemicals all over 4 apple trees every 10 days.

update:
due to the stupid weather this year not one of our four apple trees fruited but only one of the four got the rust spots.
